How to Get Stains Out Of Carpet

Every so often, you'll need to deal with spills and stains, especially if you have kids or pets. Fortunately, a lot of our carpeting products feature built-in stain-resistant technology, which makes it easier to deal with the occasional accident. However, no carpet is absolutely stain-proof.

Before cleaning up any mess, establish whether it's an oil- or water-based stain. Then, consult your manufacturer's care guide. Some stains will wipe away with a simple cloth while others will require a more comprehensive approach. You may require a specialized carpet cleaner or stain remover, but not all products are safe for your carpet style.

Common Stain Misconceptions

For example, did you know that the majority of what are thought to be stains are actually soil-related? Sugar-based spills from soft drinks or coffee leave a sugary residue even after the liquid has been mopped up. This sticky residue then attracts and traps soil from shoe traffic, resulting in a discolored area. To avoid this, be sure to sufficiently rinse the spill area with clean water and blot dry.
